Club History

Largs Thistle Football Club were founded in 1889 and play at Barrfields Stadium in Largs.
Currently playing in the Scottish Lowland League – the fifth tier of the Scottish Football League pyramid.

Largs Thistle’s first match at Barrfields was on 21st July 1930, with crowds of over 9,000 attending the first scheduled events.
The playing surface was upgraded from grass to the current all-weather 4G pitch in August 2012.

Scottish Junior Cup 

Club highlights include a historic Scottish Junior Cup Final win in 1994 which was as a true “David and Goliath” match with the underdogs Theesel from Ayrshire Division 2, playing against the mighty Glenafton FC who were widely acknowledged to be the Number One Junior side in Scotland at the time. 
Largs Thistle lifted the trophy beating Glenafton Athletic 1–0 in the final at Ibrox Stadium on 15 May 1994.
Largs won the match in front of 8,000 spectators and claimed their first Scottish Junior Cup.


In the 2009–10 season, Largs reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup, this time losing 1–0 to Linlithgow Rose at Rugby Park.

Largs’ next appearance in the Scottish Junior Cup final came in 2018-19, when they lost 0-2 to Auchinleck Talbot at New Douglas Park.

In the 2025–26 season, Largs again reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup (now called the Scottish Communities Cup), this time losing 2–1 to Auchinleck Talbot at Broadwood Stadium.
